12/19：ホリデーパーティ

今日は脳腫瘍研究所のホリデーパーティの日だった。昨年も出席したが、もうあれから１年たったのかと感慨深い。あのころはあと１年いられるかどうかわからなかったので、yuと「来年はここにいられるかなぁ？」と話したのだった。脳腫瘍研究所のボス・Dr.バーネットの自宅で開かれたパーティは、また圧倒された。広大な敷地で車を玄関先につけると後は駐車場まで車を運転していってくれる。自宅玄関から入ると大きなクリスマスツリー。Dr.バーネットがお迎えしてくれるが、みんな彼に挨拶するために列を作って待っている。今年はコウちゃんを連れて行ったのでDr.バーネットにもコウちゃんを紹介。それにしてもコウちゃんの人気が凄い。アメリカ人はみんなホント赤ちゃんが好きで、次々にみんな話しかけてくる。コウちゃんは、赤いサンタクロースのよだれかけをして青い帽子を被り、ずっとクリブの中で寝ていた。みんなからは、これだけの騒音の中で寝ているなんて彼はすごいねと褒められた。

料理がまたまた恐ろしいほどのおいしさ。おそらく最高級のケータリングサービス（出張料理人）が来ていて、アメリカのどのレストランでもこんなにおいしいものは食べたことがない。ローストビーフがたいへんなことになっている。１キロでも食べられそう。これ全部、Dr.バーネットのおごりなんだよね・・・　一晩で１万ドル以上だろうな、やっぱり。最後、Dr. スティーブンス一家に挨拶して今日は早めに帰宅。アメリカで成功するってすごいことだね。ほんとに。

Tonight the holiday party of the brain tumor institute was held. We joined last year, but it is deeply touching when I think that one year has already passed since then. We talked one year ago about wondering if we would be able to stay and come here again. The party was held at Dr.Barnett's house, which was really overwhelming again. When we pulled up our car at the entrance, the valet service people came and drive out car to the parking area. A big christmas tree is placed in the middle of the entrance hall. Dr.Barnett was standing in the hall to welcome us. People were waiting in line to say hello to Dr.Barnett. This is America! This year we have Ko-chan, so we introduced him to Dr.Barnett. Above all, Ko-chan is incredibly popular. People here really love babies and talk kindly to Ko-chan one after another. He kept sleeping all the while in the crib with a red Santa Claus bib and a blue cap. People admired him for sleeping in that big noise.

Food was fantastic. We've never had more delicious food here in the States. I guess Dr.Barnett hired the top-notch catering service. Roast beef was just too good to describe in words. I could possibly eat more than 1kg. All these dishes were Dr.Barnett's treat... Probably cost more than 10 thousand dollars.

Lastly, we said hello to Dr.Stevens, who is also a really nice staff doctor and returned to our home early. It's kind of funny to say this now, but making a great success in America is wonderfully awesome.
